It’s not enough to put yourself out there to your ideal clients. You need to have the right stuff to capture their attention, or else they will simply walk right on by, and you’ll end up with an empty calendar and a lot of frustration!
Once you have these secrets in place, your marketing efforts will be successful: whether you are offline networking, online using social media, or engaging in any other method of reaching those people you most want to help.
Are you ready to create a steady stream of clients and fill your calendar? Great! Here goes:
.
- Get clear on who they are: The more detailed and clear you are on exactly the client you want to attract, the more you’ll be able to attract them. When you’re fuzzy on who you want, neither you nor your potential client will recognize when it’s a perfect fit.
.
Clients will only hire you when they feel as though it’s a great match, and you can’t have a great match when you don’t know exactly who you work with and what needs they have which you can fulfill.
.
- Create a compelling message: Once you know who they are what needs you can fulfill, you need to do a good job of communicating that. Otherwise, your ideal client still won’t recognize that you are the one for them. The biggest mistake you can make in creating your message is to focus on selling your process: whether it’s coaching, hypnosis or interior design, the process you use to get your clients results is not what attracts them.
.
It’s the results they want that attract them. So the way to create a compelling message is to focus on what the problem is they are trying to solve, and what the end results are they want, which working with you will provide. The details on how you will help them do that don’t capture their interest.
.
- Create juicy packages that offer the results they want: Your offers are critical to the success of attracting who you want as a client. If your packages simply contain your process, for instance if you bundle a certain number of coaching sessions and call that a package, it won’t generate much interest.
.
You need to offer lots of juicy tools, resources, talent, expertise and fun processes that you can clearly show will immediately bring them the results they desire. When packages are put together that way, your ideal clients will be excited and will do whatever it takes to find the money and time to work with you.
.
- Believe in yourself and your ability to get them those results: If you have a business where you actually do deliver the results yourself, then it’s fairly easy to promise those results. You are in control of them. However, if you have a business that requires people to participate in getting their own results, like coaching or healing, it requires an extra dose of confidence to put yourself out there as someone who can get clients the results they crave. You are not in complete control of them.
.
The key to developing that confidence is to remember that in the end, it isn’t you who provides the results. It’s your client. You provide the opportunity for them to achieve those results. It’s always up to them to step up to the plate and create them. You can’t do it for them.
.
- Scrupulously check your own attitudes and beliefs, and make sure they match what you want to attract: Sometimes I see entrepreneurs who act in ways they would never want their potential clients to act. The law of attraction is always present, and you will attract people who match your energy.
.
Here are some examples:
- Do you hate it when people “sell” to you, and want to “close” the deal to work with you? Do you avoid anyone whom you perceive as doing that? Part of being a business owner is to help clients get past their concerns by doing a certain degree of (Authentic) selling and closing. If you attract people who don’t like that, and you don’t do it yourself, your business won’t thrive.
.
- Do you avoid investing money in yourself and your business, to help it grow, either because you feel you don’t need it or you don’t want to spend the money? You’ll attract the same type of person, and many will not invest in your services.
.
- Do you use others who offer free consults by taking up their time to get information, with no intention of looking to see if their services are a fit for you? If so, you’ll find yourself giving a lot of your precious time away for free, with few clients to show for it.
If you make sure you are following all five of these secrets, without question you will attract your ideal clients, and your marketing efforts will be fruitful. Happy prospecting!
Like your “selling” attitude. I think some clarity on what selling really is would help people who are afraid to sell.
It’s something more like making a great plan to serve someone, attaching a fee, and simply stating it. The great plan (offer, program, service) is probably the key. Then a few “act now” type of limitations as well -which are really good for both of you coach/coachee and not meant to force or trick someone into buying – we’re talking a real worthwhile, mutually beneficial arrangement.
